At Blue Ridge, we know that praying is one of the most important things we do. However, we don't want to make plans and then just ask God to bless them. We want to be following God's lead; not asking Him to go along with what we're doing. To that end, our desire is to pray about decisions before we make them, to ask for God's direction and help in everything we do, to pray for all our events before they happen, and to wait on God before starting any new initiatives.

Here are some of the ways you can ask for or participate in prayer at Blue Ridge:

Prayer Chain: There are times when nothing can put your mind at ease better than knowing people are praying for your situation. Our prayer chain provides quick attention to urgent prayer requests. We have a network of people at Blue Ridge who will pray for your need. For emergency prayer concerns, send an email to prayer@blue-ridge.org

Staff Prayer:
On weekdays, we offer prayer times at 9 am, noon, and 4 pm. Also, at 6 pm on Wednesdays. Some staff members are present for each of these times, and anyone is invited to join us as we pray for the ministries and people of Blue Ridge.

168 Hours of Prayer: Occasionally when something really big is coming up, we do a week-long, 24/7 prayer event with 168 people signing up to come and pray for one hour. For example, we did this in October 2007 as we were preparing for our Harvest Festival. We had asked people to fill out cards with names of people they had invited to come to the Harvest Festival. Then we set up a prayer room where one wall was covered with those names. The 168 people who came during that week were able to pray specifically by name for those people to not only come to the Festival, but for them to encounter God in a new way. God amazed all of us! The Festival day weather was perfect, twice as many people came as we expected, and many of them have been attending Blue Ridge since then.

These are just some of the ways you can participate in prayer at Blue Ridge. We hope you will find, as we have, that prayer changes us and helps us become more in tune with God's will. And the more we pray, the more God responds by changing lives and drawing people to Himself. That is, after all, what it's all about.
