Eric Koontz likes a good story. A movie buff, he’s especially taken by a movie that leaves you thinking.
But his favorite stories are about how God is moving in people’s lives. That’s part of why he loves being Director of Volunteerism for Kids Community. “I am passionate about helping people take the next step in their relationship with God through serving,” he said. If you want to be a part of Kids Community, Eric wants to talk to you!
Eric said that growing up he thought he would be an FBI agent, but “God had other plans.” Attending Blue Ridge since 2006, the Charlotte, NC native came to the Lynchburg area in 1999 to attend Liberty University, where he earned a B.A. in Religion and a Masters of Divinity (M.Div) and met his wife, Mary.
On June 24, 2010, Eric and Mary began a whole new chapter: Parenthood! That’s the day they welcomed their daughter, Claire, to the world.
An avid outdoorsman, Eric enjoys fly-fishing, running, backpacking, kayaking—you name it! A grill master who enjoys a good cup of coffee, he says he may have too many outdoor hobbies. But Eric is just as comfortable indoors and is quite organized.
One of his favorite passages of Scripture is from John 14:12-14 (ESV), “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
Believing that Jesus is the author of your life, Eric knows you have a great story to share, too. And he looks forward to hearing how God is using you in His service.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.
