Deb says she is married to "the most amazing, godly man who can do absolutely anything from being an engineer to a pastor." (We all know she's talking about Dave Kountz, our Executive Pastor and one of our Elders.) Together, they have four beautiful, fun children who, according to Deb, "pull out every emotion I never thought I had." She must enjoy those emotions because she's a real homebody and loves spending time at home with her family and their friends.
Her favorite hobby in all the world is racquetball! She would love to play for hours on end but says that getting older is slowing her down. She can still beat Jeremy Wilkinson, though, so it can't be all bad. She's been organizing round-robin play at the downtown YMCA. If you want a chance at trying to beat her, check it out and get signed up. Good luck!
Deb seems to think she's getting old, but she's one of those people who seem perpetually young. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that she is very petite (read: tiny), has a bubbly personality, and loves to laugh and be silly. Of course, keeping up with four teenagers might have a lot to do with it, too.
Her favorite movie is His Girl Friday with Cary Grant, and at Christmas time, she loves just about any version of The Christmas Carol with Scrooge. She says the best part is the transformation he makes--it shows we’re never too old to start over.
Over the years Debby has served in a lot of areas at Blue Ridge, including involvement on the worship, drama, and dance teams. She is very talented in all those areas. Plus, now, she's also proving her abilities in the administrative arena since she came on staff in 2007 to help out in the Communications Department. She's so good and so helpful that people from various ministry areas call on her regularly to help out with special projects. She loves learning new things and is a big help in making BRCC run efficiently.
