 Dave Kountz

Dave’s a guy who never thought he would be working for a church. He grew up in the mountains of West Virginia and left there to pursue a career in engineering. He figured he would spend the rest of his life in that arena. But God had other ideas, so in 2002 Dave left the corporate world and stepped into a leadership role at Blue Ridge. Dave says it has been a real thrill to be in a place and a position where success is so dependent on God. One of the only things that stayed constant through his time as a volunteer, and now in his current role as the Executive Pastor, is that things are going to change. And the thing that God is most concerned about is the change in each of us. In addition to being the Executive Pastor and one of our three Elders, Dave leads the Senior Management Team and serves on our teaching team.

The thing that Dave is the most crazy about, next to God, is his family: wife Debby (“incredibly talented, beautiful and sexy”), and “the four most amazing kids I know” – Stephanie, Michael, Daniel and Kiersten. They, along with his friends, are among the most satisfying things in his life. Oh yeah, fast motorcycles, good movies, brain teasers (after all, he is still a geek), and Mexican food are on that list too.

Dave's jobs at Blue Ridge give him plenty of opportunities to use his spiritual gifts of leadership, wisdom and discernment. In fact, if it weren't for “the paperwork,” he would probably say he has the perfect job. He wholeheartedly believes that building God's church one person at a time is the most worthwhile endeavor this life has to offer.
