 Angie Godsey

If you’ve been attending Blue Ridge for at least a little while, you’ve probably heard the beautiful voice God gave to Angie Godsey. An integral part of the worship team, Angie loves seeing people raise hands and lower heads in prayer through worship.

But her favorite worship is, “when we get to rejoice with someone who has just turned their life over to God and we get to hug them and say, ‘Welcome to the family!’”

Angie volunteered as the administrative assistant to the arts department for quite some time, but she proved to be so invaluable that they finally hired her as part-time staff. She always wanted to be a mom, a teacher, and a singer. “I’m grateful I get to live my dreams every day,” she says.

The oldest of six children, Angie was born in Tennessee, but as an “Army brat” she didn’t stay there long. Today, she and her husband have three amazing children. She says they’re a wild and crazy bunch—“we say we put the ‘fun’ in dysfunctional.”

Though she doesn’t have much free time, she does enjoy writing and occasionally scrapbooking with girlfriends. She likes a good chick flick like “Sense and Sensibility,” but has also been known to enjoy the likes of “Remember the Titans” and “Lord of the Rings.”

Angie’s been part of Blue Ridge since 2000. Her greatest strength may also be her greatest weakness: She’s a passionate person who loves to encourage others, and she deeply feels other people's hurts. “So I have to stay close to God and be willing to lift people to Him and let God be God.”

Her favorite Scripture verse tells her that her Father is always with her:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
— Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
